Froghall Wharf, Staffordshire Moorlands
Café owner Emma Atkinson saw the potential of converting the attractive heritage building into a café with space upstairs that can be used for private use. When the cafe first …
Came across this lovely little place, the staff were so helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them! We even ordered something which wasn’t on the menu and they catered for us no problem. The scones were the nicest we’ve had in ages, and would definitely return just for those! We will be recommending to everyone! Thanks again xx
Love how the food is homemade and fresh, the cakes and scones are wonderful, some of which are gluten-free, it’s always busy, which gives an indication on how good it is, the atmosphere is welcoming and the staff friendly and helpful. Menus are always on hand to browse through, stacked on the table with the cutlery and napkins. It’s become a regular stop off for us.
A lovely place. Really good coffee and scrumptious cappuccino slice. Looking forward to visiting often.
Good luck to Emma and her lovely staff
Visited this morning, had a delicious hot chocolate and freshly baked scone. Lovely, cosy feel in the tea room, excellent service and welcoming staff. Will definitely be visiting again very soon. Good luck Emma in your new venture x
Popped there for brekky on our motorbikes this morning. Cannot fault it, lovely settings, very friendly staff and brekky was spot on. Looking forward to your cream teas on the canal. We’ll definitely be back thank you xx
I’ve visited Hetty’s Tea Shop today and was so very impressed. I had a raspberry pavlova milk shake which is the best milkshake I’ve ever had. The staff are so friendly and welcoming even though we turned up 15 minutes before closing time. What a beautiful place they’ve made it. I felt like I was on holiday! I can’t wait for my next visit when I shall have something to eat there. Everything is prepared fresh and this is not a fast food cafe.. Everything good is always worth the wait. Xxx
Love the feel of this property and the way it has been renovated, mixing original features with comfortable attractive furniture for visitors. There is outside seating to take advantage of the beautiful surrounds, but in the winter, Hetty’s will be a cosy place to catch up with friends for lunch.
We visited over the Easter weekend, and the Raspberry and Apple Scones were delicious.
Wishing Emma and her Team all the best on this new business venture.
Lovely building, lovingly renovated, in a peaceful and scenic location. Inside it’s clean, welcoming and comfortably styled with quite an up-market feel – soft furnishings, nice lighting, good china etc. Has all the usual tearoom offerings plus Staffordshire oatcakes, breakfast (at a reasonable £5.50) and is licenced for alcohol (£10.50 for a bottle of house wine – not a greedy amount). Prices are fair and quality good.
Have to agree with the previous post regarding service though – there’s no shortage of staff and the ladies serving were pleasant and welcoming, but they need a little more training with regard to alertness and responsiveness to customers waiting to be served. However Hetty’s has only been open since Easter and not all staff can be expected to have had professional catering experience, so no doubt they’ll pick up their game if they have a little gentle guidance
